Adelie’s Martin Johnson recognised as top business leader
Our CEO, Martin Johnson, is one of six nominated for the Business Leaders Award at the 2018 Food Manufacturing Excellence Awards.
The awards recognise the best in the business – and we’re delighted to see Martin recognised as one of the leading names in the British food sector. Nominees for this award were selected by an industry panel and the winner will be decided by public vote.
Martin has been CEO of Adelie Foods Group since 2016 and has implemented a strong set of values and purpose in the £250m business, which employs over 3,000 people across the UK. As well as cementing URBAN eat as the UK’s number one sandwich brand, under his guidance the business has relaunched the premium Daily Bread brand and expanded the organisation’s foodservice and convenience customer base.
Martin says: “For me it’s all about ensuring the business lives quality, service and innovation as part of our DNA. I have a fantastic team and they spend a lot of energy understanding food and consumer trends, working with the top ingredient suppliers and nurturing their operational processes to create the best possible food-to-go products in the market. Their goal is always to ensure that the food Adelie makes is the preferred choice for consumers.”
Before joining Adelie Foods, Martin was CCO at BMI Healthcare, the UK’s largest private hospital group and prior to that, he held senior positions at BAA Airports and Mars Confectionery, working in his earlier career as an Engineer with Ford and BMW. Martin is a Chartered Engineer with an Engineering Degree from Reading, a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and he also holds a business degree from Warwick.
